The Details
How it Works
Waxing is the process of hair removal from the root by covering a sticky substance, such as wax, to adhere to body hair, and then removing this covering and pulling out the hair from the follicle.
Treatment Preparation
Hair should be at least 1/8-inch long at the waxing site.
Do not apply any lotions or creams to the areas being waxed on the day of your appointment.
Gently exfoliate with a mild scrub, brush, mitt or loofah 1 to 2 days before your waxing treatment to remove the dead skin cells that surround the hair follicles. Exfoliating helps loosen existing ingrown hairs and improves your waxing results.
Areas that can be Treated
Waxing can be performed on virtually any area of the body. The most common areas include eyebrows, upper lip, bikini, chest, and back.
What it Feels Like
When the hair follicle is pulled from the hair shaft by a mechanical force, it triggers your nerve endings and causes the instant shock of pain. That being said, the pain will subside in a matter of seconds.
Expected Results
The waxed area is left silky smooth and clean without cuts or other marks. The products used during a waxing treatment are much safer for your skin than any risky hair removal creams at home.
Treatment results typically last between 4 to 6 weeks.
Number of Treatments
Your hair has a growth cycle and it may take several waxing sessions to obtain a standard re-growth pattern and thus maximum results.
We recommend regular treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart to keep the smooth appearance desired.
After Care
Post-Treatment
Residual redness and tenderness at the waxing site is normal, and usually resolves within 1 to 4 hours.
Make sure you avoid using any exfoliating agents, lotions, deodorants or body sprays on the waxed areas for at least 24 hours.
Aloe vera and other soothing gels will help the irritated skin.
After irritation as subsided, you may use gentle lotions to help maximize the smooth feeling of the area, especially on the arms and legs.
Ensure the waxed area is kept clean and try to avoid excessive heat or friction for 1 to 2 days after your treatment.
Follow Up
Most waxing treatment results last 4 to 6 weeks.
However, hiss varies from client to client, depending on his/her hair growth cycle. Clients will start to get a sense of how often you need an area waxed after a few sessions.
